Our strategic partner, the Papua New Guinea Coffee Growers Federation Ltd., supplies Arabica and Robusta green bean to GWDC. The Papua New Guinea Coffee Growers Federation Ltd. are co-operatives representing approximately 130,000 coffee growers organized in 186 co-operatives located throughout the coffee growing areas of Papua New Guinea. Eighty-five percent of the green bean coffee is grown primarily in farms along the main arterial routes in the rich volcanic soils of the highlands between the altitudes of 4,000 to 6,500 feet above sea level. Arabica and Robusta are the two kinds of coffee beans grown with the main varieties of Arabica harvested being "Arusha", "Bourbon", "Catturra", "Catimor", and "Mundonova". Papua New Guinea’s Arabica coffee is renowned for its unique floral and citric flavours and fruity taste. It also has a heavier body and is ideal for making espresso blend.
